1UP ARCADE BAR
TYPE: Multi-Location Commercial AV, New Build and Upgrades
LOCATIONS: LoDo, Colfax, Westminster, Greenwood Village
SCOPE: Audio Systems, Display Infrastructure, Pinball Camera Display TVs, Elevated Equipment Rack
THE CHALLENGE
1UP Arcade Bar locations are high-density entertainment venues where the AV system has to serve two functions at once. Every location needs a venue-wide audio and display system for sports programming, general content, and atmosphere, running reliably across a floor packed with arcade machines generating constant ambient noise. At the same time, each location runs 1UP's proprietary pinball camera display system, which puts a dedicated monitor above each pinball machine showing a live camera feed of the playfield. ESP's scope covers the infrastructure that makes both work.
Upgrading existing locations adds another layer of complexity. LoDo, Colfax, and Greenwood Village all had existing systems that needed to be assessed, removed, and replaced without shutting the venue down for longer than necessary. Every location is a revenue-generating business with a full schedule. The upgrade timeline had to work around the venue's operation, not the other way around.
WHAT WE BUILT
AUDIO SYSTEMS — ALL FOUR LOCATIONS
Full audio systems across all four locations. Biamp processing across the venue, sized and configured for the specific acoustic conditions of each space. High-output coverage designed to compete with the ambient noise floor of dozens of arcade machines running simultaneously across a busy gaming floor. At 1UP the audio system is always fighting for presence. The system has to win that fight at every listening position without overwhelming the room.
Five independently controllable audio zones at each location allow different areas to run different sources and levels simultaneously. Bar area, gaming floor, and additional zones managed independently from a central control point. Staff can shift the environment across different parts of the venue without adjusting the full system.
DISPLAY INFRASTRUCTURE — PINBALL CAMERA SYSTEM
1UP runs a proprietary camera system that mounts a camera above each pinball machine, pointed at the playfield. Players can watch the ball and see all playfield detail on a dedicated monitor without having to bend over the machine. ESP installed the display infrastructure for this system across all four locations: the monitors, mounting, signal routing, and integration with the venue's broader display control. The camera system is 1UP's own technology. Getting it installed cleanly and reliably across four locations is ESP's contribution.
VENUE DISPLAY TVs
Additional venue displays for sports programming, general content, and venue signage at each location. Integrated with the audio system and managed from the same control infrastructure as the audio zones. Placement and mounting at each location was designed around the specific floor plan and sightlines of the space.
ELEVATED EQUIPMENT RACK — WESTMINSTER
At the Westminster new build, all equipment rack infrastructure was designed and engineered off the floor, elevated to preserve floor space for arcade machines. In a venue where every square foot of floor space is occupied by a revenue-generating machine, rack placement matters as much as the equipment inside it. Getting the infrastructure off the floor at the design stage means it never has to be moved later.
EXECUTION
Westminster was a full new build. Every system was designed from scratch and installed before the location opened. Audio zones, display infrastructure, rack placement, and signal routing were all planned in the design phase so the installation went in cleanly without on-site problem solving.
The three upgrades at LoDo, Colfax, and Greenwood Village required a different approach. Existing systems were assessed, removed, and replaced. Each location stayed operational during the process wherever possible. The work was sequenced around the venue's schedule so disruption to daily operation was kept to a minimum.
Four locations, consistent standard across all of them. The same audio platform, the same display approach, and the same control infrastructure at every site so the system behaves predictably regardless of which location you walk into.
THE RESULT
ESP is the AV vendor of record for every 1UP Arcade Bar location in Colorado. Four locations, one new build, three upgrades, the same standard of audio and display infrastructure across all of them. The pinball camera display system runs at every location because the display infrastructure behind it was installed correctly. The audio system performs in one of the most demanding acoustic environments in commercial AV, a loud gaming floor running dozens of machines simultaneously, and wins.
